Cold winter evenings in Norway are perfect for spending indoors in front of the fireplace while the snow falls outside. Often, we sit down together and start dreaming about future travel destinations. We search, read, ask, and dig. This is how our trips are formed, slowly but surely. This summer, we are setting out on new adventures on the west side of Sicily.
Parco delle Madonie
First, we travel into the Parco delle Madonie National Park, known for its varied landscape with forests, plains, and mountains towering 1900 meters above sea level. In the area, you can find ancient oak and chestnut trees, and small villages clinging to hilltops. We are staying at a Bed and Breakfast in the middle of nowhere and look forward to finding good trattorias in the nearby towns of Castelbuono, Isnello, and Gratteri. We might also visit Cefalù again, which was fantastic when we stayed there in 2023.
Riserva dello Zingaro
The next stop on our journey is near Riserva dello Zingaro. The nature reserve is located between the villages of Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo. Finally, we are out by the crystal-clear sea, and the nature is completely different from Parco delle Madonie. Sicily shows its great variety in landscapes. Here we have found a rustic and elegant hotel close to nature and the surrounding villages.
Favignana - Isole Egadi
We take a ferry to the small island of Favignana, one of the Egadi Islands off the coast of Trapani. The island is known for its crystal-clear waters, beautiful beaches, and scenic beauty - and is a favorite for Italian summer tourists. Here we will spend just over a week in an apartment with a rooftop veranda and an outdoor kitchen, which we are really looking forward to sharing with you.
Agrigento - bio-resort
Next, we travel inland, towards Agrigento, among vineyards and farms. Here we will spend a couple of days in a beautiful, old villa, a bio-resort where much revolves around traditions, taking care of the soil, and being self-sufficient.
Susafa - Polizzi Generosa
Here we revisit a place we have visited before. Out in the wheat fields around Vallelunga, we will once again visit Susafa - which we also visited in 2023.
Trapani
We end the trip with a couple of days in the historic center of Trapani, at an art hotel we look forward to sharing with you.
