To get to Anacapri, you must first reach Capri, or more precisely Marina Grande. You can read more about this here.
Anacapri is located high above Capri; the two parts of the island are separated by Monte Solaro's enormous, sheer cliff. There are two ways up between Capri and Anacapri: the main road clinging to the cliff and the historic Phoenician Steps. 921 steps on smoothly polished stone. We recommend the former route. The Phoenician Steps could be a nice excursion for another day, perhaps in the opposite direction, from the top down.
All ferries to Capri arrive at Marina Grande. From here, there are regular buses to Anacapri. The buses are small, and some of them are reserved for residents. There may be some queues, especially right after a ferry has disembarked all passengers. If you have a lot of luggage (more than a small backpack or small carry-on), taking the bus is not a good idea. In the harbor, you will also find the legendary Capri taxis. Large and spacious, without a roof. Taking one of these from the harbor up to Anacapri is an experience in itself. There may also be some queues here, especially right after the ferries arrive. Take a break, sit on the edge of the pier or find a café, enjoy the sight of the people, a glass og wine, and soon the queues will clear, and it will be your turn.
There are also luggage porters at the harbor who can transport luggage to the hotel. This can be a great option if you do not want to go directly to your accommodation. Begin your visit to Capri by taking La Funicolare up to Capri center, and then take a bus or taxi from there to Anacapri later in the day.
