La Fontelina – Beach Club and Restaurant…
This beautiful beach club is situated along the cliffs overlooking the sea with the Faraglioni of Capri in the background. It is one of Capri's oldest beach clubs which opened its restaurant as early as 1949. They are known for their classic seafood dishes, as these were what they first started with when they opened. The Catch of the Day, cooked on the grill.
La Fontelina has been visited by major international stars since it first opened in the 1940s. Celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, and Clark Gable, to mention a few from the past, all the way to present-day celebrities whom you might suddenly find next to you here. It is one of the pricier beach clubs here in Capri, but if you desire a bit of luxury on the beach for a day, this is the place to experience. We recommend having the accommodation you are staying at reserve a spot for you because you cannot enter without a prior reservation.
There are many steps to go from the main road down to La Fontelina. So be sure your reservation is in place before you begin the descent. It is also possible to be picked up by boat from Marina Piccola or Marina Grande. This must be arranged in advance.
The restaurant La Fontelina has kept the pergola on the terrace from olden days, built of straw mats and chestnut trees. And we have no trouble dreaming ourselves back to the old days when, among others, Brigitte Bardot perhaps sat exactly where we sat when she visited La Fontelina.
And maybe she had lunch here in the delightful shade. We certainly did! This place is known to be one of the most exclusive beach clubs in Italy, and with this location and history, we can well understand why.
La Zagara - Lemon Garden Restaurant…
This restaurant is located in the lemon garden of Boutique Hotel Casa Mariantonia, where we stayed when we visited the restaurant multiple times. Here, you can enjoy lunch outdoors under the lemon trees in their beautiful garden. They make an absolutely incredible lemon ice cream, possibly the best dessert we have ever tasted. The lemons, of course, come from the garden. Zero food miles.
They also have a large selection of Italian wines—local, national, and international. Everyone we met working here was incredibly friendly and provided fantastic service.
Casa Mariantonia also has a wonderful wine bar facing the street—perfect for a glass of wine while watching people stroll by.
Ristorante Il Geranio…
This restaurant is located right next to the Gardens of Augustus, and is only a 5-minute walk from the square Piazza Umberto I. It has a very nice small terrace where you have a lovely view down towards the Faraglioni, so make sure to get a table outside when you make a reservation. We have eaten at this restaurant several times, both for lunch and dinner, and the food tastes very good; they follow a classic Italian style in their dishes. They also have a good selection of Italian wines, including local and national ones, as well as international options.
Ristorante Da Gelsomina – A Restaurant Among the Vineyards
Da Gelsomina is located on the outskirts of Anacapri, and the walk there is a beautiful stroll through stunning nature. As we approached the restaurant, dark clouds gathered over Anacapri, but we were lucky to get a table inside. Not long after, the weather showed its full force, but we could simply sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.
Everything here is charming and unpretentious, with a classic Italian touch. Round tables, warm terracotta tiles, and a calm, authentic ambiance make this the perfect place for anyone seeking a break from the crowds and a taste of the Italian countryside.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time inside while the wind howled and the rain poured down outside. A glass of wine from their own vineyard quickly turned into a bottle – stepping back out into the storm wasn’t too tempting. And the food? Absolutely delicious. Homemade Italian comfort food, prepared with fresh, zero-kilometer vegetables from their own garden – it doesn’t get any better than this!
L'Agave - at Villa Brunella
This restaurant is connected to the Villa Brunella hotel and it has a fantastic terrace that offers a beautiful view over Capri and the sunset to the west. The food is very good, and they have a great selection of both local, national, and international wines. It's a nice place with very good food. Here, you sit inside, but there are large windows that are opened in the summer to give you a view of Capri.
